Coalition forces kill 6 ISIS militants in Kunar

KUNAR -- A coalition air strike killed at least three members of the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), including a local commander, in Kunar Province, Pajhwok Afghan News reported Monday (September 17), citing local police.

The strike occurred Sunday (September 16) night in Watapur District, according to Pajhwok Afghan News, citing Faridullah Dehqan, Kunar's provincial police spokesperson.

Separately, coalition forces raided an ISIS hideout in Watapur Sunday, killing at least three ISIS militants, Khaama Press reported Monday.

Two suspects were arrested in the operations, according to Kunar provincial security chief Amir Mohammad Zaman.

The local commander killed in the raid was identified as Abuzar.
