KANDAHAR -- Afghan special forces killed at least 47 Taliban militants and wounded 41 others during a clearance operation in Maiwand District, Kandahar Province, Pajhwok Afghan News reported Tuesday (September 25).
The operation, which had air support, took place Monday evening (September 24) in the Srabaghal and Container Bazaar areas of Maiwand District, according to Zia Durani, spokesman for Kandahar's provincial police. The troops reportedly had no casualties.
The Afghan forces destroyed six vehicles, 35 motorcycles and eight hideouts belonging to the militants, Durani said.
