Air strike kills 7 Taliban militants, including commander, in Faryab

MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- An air strike killed at least seven Taliban militants, including the group's commander, in Qaisar District, Faryab Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Wednesday (October 10).

Officials identified the senior commander as Mullah Daud Taimani, who led a group of 50 Taliban militants in the area, said the statement.

The incident took place in Taimani village in Qaisar as Mullah Daud and his bodyguards travelled in a vehicle.

The Taliban did not immediately comment.
