MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- Afghan security forces repelled a major attack by the Taliban militants in Shirin Tagab District, Faryab Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Tuesday (October 23).
The clash took place Monday night (October 22) in Shirin Tagab after Taliban militants launched a co-ordinated attack on the district's centre, said the statement.
Afghan forces killed at least 13 Taliban members after a 3-hour firefight, including a key commander, Qari Zabihullah, also known as Jundullah, the statement added.
