Roadside bomb kills 3 US soldiers in Ghazni

KABUL -- A roadside bomb killed three US service members and wounded three others in Ghazni Province Tuesday (November 27), the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission said in a statement Tuesday.

"Three U.S. service members were killed and three wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated November 27 near Ghazni city," said the statement. "One American contractor was also wounded."

The casualties came just days after another American soldier was killed in Nimroz Province Saturday (November 24).

An initial review showed the soldier was "likely accidentally shot by our Afghan partner force", a NATO statement said Tuesday, adding that the "tragic" incident occurred as the Afghans troops and Jasso fought al-Qaeda militants.

"There are no indications he was shot intentionally," the statement added, naming the soldier as Sgt. Jasso without providing the first name.

Jasso was killed "defending our nation, fighting al Qaeda alongside our Afghan partners", said Gen. Scott Miller, the top US and NATO commander in Afghanistan.
