Coalition air strike kills Taliban executioner in Zabul

ZABUL -- A coalition air strike killed a local Taliban leader and executioner and two other militants in Zabul Province, Khaama Press reported Friday (December 14), citing a statement from the provincial police.

The strike occurred in Shah Joy District Thursday (December 13) at about 4pm, said the statement.

The executioner, identified as Haroon, beheaded several tribal elders and security personnel, according to Zabul Police Chief Col. Mohammad Mustafa Mayar.

Haroon was also responsible for the Taliban's military activities in the district, including suicide attacks, Mayar said.

The Taliban did not immediately comment.
