Afghan troops kill at least 11 Taliban militants in Faryab

MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- Afghan forces killed at least 11 Taliban militants during two separate operations in Qaisar District, Faryab Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Thursday (January 3).

A clash erupted Wednesday (January 3) between the militants and Afghan forces in the Arklic area of Qaisar District, which left at least eight Taliban fighters dead and seven wounded, said the statement.

Separately, the Afghan air force destroyed two Taliban hideouts in Garziwan District Wednesday, killing at least three militants, said the same statement.
