Key Taliban leader surrenders in Jawzjan

MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- A prominent local Taliban leader surrendered Tuesday (January 8) to Afghan forces in Qush Tepa District, Jawzjan Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Wednesday (January 9).

The man, identified only as Qudratullah, surrendered his weapon and a motorbike to Afghan forces, said the statement.

The Taliban did not immediately comment.
