Afghan special forces kill 21 militants in Helmand

KABUL -- Afghan special forces killed 21 militants during clearing operations in Helmand Province, the Defence Ministry said in a statement Thursday (March 28).

The operations took place in the villages of Sayed Muhammad, Haidar Abad and Shorgin in Sangin District, said the statement, without providing details on the timing.

Four militants were wounded, it said, adding that Afghan forces destroyed some weapons and ammunition.

The operation "ended successfully" with no reports of casualties among Afghan forces, said the statement.
