MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- Afghan forces killed 11 Taliban fighters -- including four of their local commanders -- in separate battles in Faryab Province, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Thursday (April 18).
The fighting took place in Dawlatabad, Khwaja Sabz Posh and Qaisar districts, according to the statement.
Taliban commanders identified as Qari Gulbuddin; Qari Mohammadullah; Mullah Zarif, also known as Taimani; and Mullah Abdullah were among those killed, it added.
One soldier died and another was wounded, officials said. No civilians were harmed.
