The "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) claimed responsibility on Sunday (April 21) for an attack on the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Kabul the previous day.

Four ISIS members detonated explosives near the ministry, then entered and "battled Afghan security forces with machine guns and hand grenades for numerous hours", the militant group said in a statement.

The terrorist act in Kabul killed seven civilians and three members of the security forces, the Interior Ministry said Sunday, updating the death toll after three Afghans died of their wounds.

The four assailants wore police uniforms, said Gen. Sayed Mohammad Roshan Dil, the Kabul police chief.
