GHAZNI -- The Taliban Wednesday (May 1) blew up one of the oldest shrines in Ghazni Province, according to local Afghan officials.
Militants destroyed the Shams-ul-Arifeen shrine, one of the oldest in Ghazni city and one of the most famous in the province, late at night, Mohammad Arif Noori, a spokesperson for the Ghazni governor, said in a statement Thursday (May 2).
The shrine was venerated nationwide, said the statement.
The Taliban did not immediately comment.
