LAGHMAN -- Unidentified gunmen attacked a senior leader of "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) in Kunar Province, wounding him and killing one of his foreign followers, the 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Tuesday (May 7).
The incident took place Tuesday in Diwaan village of Sawkai District, said the statement.
The leader, identified as Mufti Khalid, was responsible for ISIS propaganda in the area, said officials.
The incident comes a month after the Taliban burned down the houses of ISIS members in the province.
