HERAT -- Afghan commandos killed a key Taliban commander in Shindand District, Herat Province, the 207th Zafar Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Tuesday (May 21).
Troops killed the militant, identified as Hafeez Daud, in the Zere Koh area of Shindand District, the army said, without providing details on the timing of the operation.
Afghan forces also arrested a Taliban fighter and seized a PK machine gun, rocket-propelled grenade launcher, two M240 machine guns and three AK-47 rifles in the operation, it added.
