KABUL -- President Ashraf Ghani said Tuesday (June 4) that he accepted an invitation from Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to visit Pakistan at the end of June.

The trip is scheduled for June 27, said Ghani, speaking after Eid prayers at the presidential palace in Kabul.

Ghani and Khan May 31 met on the sidelines of the 14th summit of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) in Saudi Arabia and discussed the Afghan peace process and ties between the two countries.

"Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. He also underlined Pakistan's firm support for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process for a political solution in Afghanistan," Khan's office said in a statement on May 31.
