Afghan forces rescue 47 captives from Taliban prisons in Baghlan, Kunduz

KABUL -- Afghan police and special forces rescued at least 47 captives from Taliban prisons in separate operations in Baghlan and Kunduz provinces on Monday night (June 10), officials said.

Police conducted an operation in Baghlan Province that freed at least 34 people held in a Taliban prison, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday (June 11).

Seven army soldiers, seven police officers, three National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives and 17 civilians were among those freed, it added.

Separately, Afghan special forces freed 13 captives from a Taliban prison in Aqtaash District, Kunduz Province, the Special Operations Corps said in a statement on Tuesday. It didn't provide further details.
