JALALABAD -- Afghan security forces arrested at least eight members of "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) and four Taliban insurgents in Nangarhar Province, the provincial press office said in a statement Monday (June 24).
The militants were arrested in Chaparhar, Ghani Khel and Rodat districts over the past week, said Nangarhar Governor Shah Mahmood Miakhil in the statement.
Authorities presented the detainees to the media on Monday at the compound of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Jalalabad.
A key member of ISIS who participated in spreading propaganda and recruiting for the group was among those arrested, the statement added.
