Afghan operations kill 31 Taliban militants in Maidan Wardak

KABUL -- Afghan forces killed at least 31 Taliban militants including their local commanders in various operations in Maidan Wardak Province, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday (July 3).

The operations, backed by the Afghan Air Force, were conducted Tuesday night (July 2) in the provincial capital of Maidan Shahr as well as in Jalrez, Nerkh and Dai Mirdad districts, the Ministry said.

At least 35 other militants were wounded including the Taliban's shadow governor for Nerkh District, it added.

The Taliban did not immediately comment.
