Coalition air strikes kill 55 Taliban militants in 2 provinces

GARDEZ -- Coalition air strikes in Ghazni and Logar provinces killed at least 55 Taliban militants, according to the 203rd Thunder Corps of the Afghan National Army.

Air strikes killed at least 25 militants in Moqor and Gilan districts in Ghazni Province, the corps said in a statement Thursday (August 8).

Vehicles belonging to the Taliban were destroyed, it added.

Coalition air strikes also killed 30 Taliban fighters in Logar Province, the corps said in a separate statement Wednesday (August 7).

Neither statement provided details on the timing of the strikes.

The Taliban did not immediately comment.
