FARYAB -- Afghan special forces killed at least 15 Taliban fighters, including two local commanders of the group, during an operation in Faryab Province, the Special Operation Corps said in a statement Wednesday (August 14).
The operation, backed by air support, took place in Aliabad village of Garziwan District, said the statement, without providing details on the timing.
Officials identified the militant commanders as Esmatullah and Mahbobullah. At least eight other militants were wounded.
The Taliban did not immediately comment.
