KABUL -- A car bombing claimed by the Taliban on Thursday (September 12) killed at least four members of Afghan special forces in Kabul, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
The bomber targeted Afghan Special Operations Corps headquarters in south Kabul, the ministry said. Three other trops were wounded.
The attack came a day after US President Donald Trump pledged to hit the Taliban "harder" than ever.
Trump, speaking on Wednesday (September 11) at the US Department of Defence to mark the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, announced an unprecedented escalation of the military assault on the Taliban.
He said that over "the last four days," US forces have "hit our enemy harder than they have ever been hit before and that will continue."
The nature of the offensive was not immediately clear, but Trump said it was ordered after he cancelled peace talks with the Taliban over the weekend.
