KABUL -- The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said its special forces along with police stormed a hideout of the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) in Kabul Thursday (September 12), and killed two militants.

The operation was conducted in the 17th district after the NDS received information from three members of the group, whom the agency arrested a day earlier in Kabul, the NDS said in a statement Friday (September 13).

An organiser of some of ISIS's terrorist attacks, identified as Mohammad Haneef, was among those killed, it added.

Afghan forces confiscated three AK-47 assault rifles, 26 ammunition magazines, a shotgun, seven hand grenades and three military uniforms in the hideout, according to the NDS.

A Pakistani national woman who lived in the hideout with her four children was transferred to hospital after she was wounded in the operation.

Separately, an Afghan air strike killed an ISIS recruiter in Khogyani District, Nangarhar Province, the Defence Ministry said in a statement Friday.

The suspect, identified as Hasan Panjabi, also was responsible for spreading the group's propaganda on social media, the ministry said without giving details on the timing of the operation.
