MAZAR-E-SHARIF -- An Afghan air strike killed the Taliban shadow governor for Chamtal District, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army said in a statement Monday (September 30).
Gul Nabi Mubarez was targeted Sunday (September 29) in the district, said the statement.
Separately, Afghan forces backed by the air force killed at least seven Taliban fighters and wounded nine others in a clash in Balkh District, Balkh Province, the corps said in a statement Tuesday (October 1).
Five security personnel were injured but no civilians were harmed, it added.
The Taliban did not immediately comment on either incident.
