HERAT -- Afghan forces killed the Taliban shadow governor for Obe District, Herat Province, TOLOnews reported Friday (October 4).
The shadow governor, identified as Mullah Matin, was killed along with his seven fighters when they attacked the centre of the district late Thursday (October 2), Herat Provincial Chief of Police Gen. Aminullah Amarkhil said.
The Taliban failed to capture the district, he added.
At least two Afghan security members were killed and another wounded in the clash, according to local residents.
The Taliban did not immediately comment.
