Afghan forces kill 47 militants

KABUL -- Afghan forces killed at least 47 militants nationwide in a 48-hour span, media reported.

Troops killed 28 insurgents and arrested eight suspected insurgents in seven provinces, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement, TOLO News reported December 5.

A joint operation killed nine more militants in various parts of Kunduz city in a 24-hour span, the ministry said separately on December 4, according to TOLO News. That same day, troops killed nine Taliban in Ghazni city, Muhammad Hanif Rizaye, a military spokesman in Ghazni, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Meanwhile, troops killed a commander of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) recently in Darzab District, Jawzjan Province, a district official said December 4, the Afghanistan Times reported.
