LAGHMAN -- Afghan security forces rescued 30 prisoners being held by militants in Laghman Province, Khaama Press reported Monday (February 19).
Members of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) discovered the detention cell during a counter-terrorism operation in Alingar District Sunday (February 18).
At least three militants were killed during the operation, said Sarhadi Zwak, a spokesman for the Laghman provincial governor.
ANDSF personnel also arrested a number of militants, he said.
