Taliban kill Logar deputy governor

PUL-E-ALAM -- Taliban gunmen killed the provincial deputy governor of Logar Province Thursday (April 26), as the group carried out a spate of attacks across the country after launching their spring offensive.

Qamaruddin Shekib, deputy governor of Logar Province, his two bodyguards and another man were ambushed as they drove towards the Afghan capital, provincial police spokesman Shapoor Ahmadzai told AFP.

The spokesman for the Logar governor and the chief of the provincial appeal court were wounded in the attack, which the Taliban claimed.
