Fighting intensifies in Baghlan

KABUL -- Fighting between troops and the Taliban intensified in Baghlan Province, while Kunduz Province's intelligence chief was wounded in an ambush, media reported August 10.

The Taliban August 10 mounted a co-ordinated attack on Dahna-i-Ghori District, Baghlan Province, TOLO News reported, quoting officials. Local police are asking for reinforcements.

Meanwhile in Kunduz Province, the Taliban ambushed and wounded provincial intelligence chief Gen. Mohammad Jasim Anwari, Khaama Press reported, quoting security officials.

A suicide bombing in Mazar-i-Sharif, Balkh Province, killed one person August 9, provincial governor's spokesman Munir Ahmad Farhad said, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
