FARYAB, Afghanistan -- Afghan authorities recently foiled a Taliban plot to use a beheaded college student's corpse as an improvised explosive device (IED) in Faryab Province, Khaama Press reported August 24, quoting provincial governor's spokesman Javid Bidar.
Militants kidnapped the student on a highway in Faizabad District and beheaded him, Bidar said, adding that they then planted a bomb in his body and left it beside the road.
Troops defused the bomb before militants could detonate it, Bidar said.
