Afghanistan allocates almost 2.2 billion AFN for IDPs

KABUL -- Afghanistan is allocating almost 2.2 billion AFN (US $30m) to help war-displaced families this winter, TOLO News reported October 27.

The government already has distributed primary assistance to displaced Afghans in Kunduz, Helmand and Farah provinces, Refugees and Repatriations Minister Sayed Hussain Alemi Balkhi said.

President Ashraf Ghani is ordering nationwide distributions of funds to aid such families, Natural Disaster Management Authority acting director Muhammad Aslam Sayas said.

The government has returned more than 23,000 displaced families to their homes, Balkhi said without citing a time frame.
