26 Taliban renounce violence in Badakhshan

KABUL -- A group of 26 Taliban, including an intelligence commander, recently renounced insurgency and joined the peace process in Badakhshan Province, TOLO News reported Wednesday (December 7).

Commander Qari Mehrab said that he and his group were active in Warduj District for many years.

Hundreds of militants have surrendered in Badakhshan in the past three months, provincial Governor Ahmad Faisal Bigzad said.
