99 Taliban killed in Logar, Faryab, Helmand

KABUL -- At least 99 Taliban militants were killed in separate security operations in Logar, Faryab and Helmand provinces.

Afghan warplanes on Sunday (January 1) pounded militant hideouts in Charkh District, Logar Province, killing at least 21 Taliban, including two commanders, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Monday (January 2), Khaama Press reported.

The air strikes destroyed weapons and ammunition as well, the MoI said.

A clearance operation in Qaisar District, Faryab Province, killed at least 26 more insurgents in a 24-hour span, local officials said Monday (January 2), according to TOLO News.

Troops killed at least 52 Taliban in a 24-hour span in Helmand Province, Brig. Gen. Wali Jan Ahmadzai, 215th Maiwand Military Corps commander, said Monday (January 2), Pajhwok Afghan News reported.
