PAKTIKA, Afghanistan -- Unidentified assailants gunned down a religious scholar and his wife in their house in Yousuf Khel District, Paktika Province, Khaama Press reported Saturday (February 4).
The slain cleric had no known disputes with any individual or group, provincial police chief Abdul Rauf Masoud said. He did not identify the couple.
However, he had renounced militancy and joined the peace process three years ago, Khaama Press added.
