ISIS commander surrenders and joins peace process in Nangarhar

JALALABAD -- A commander of the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) renounced militancy and joined the peace process in Nangarhar Province, Khaama Press reported Thursday (May 11).

The commander, identified as Wafadar, led a group of 15 militants and was involved in terrorism in three districts, said the provincial government.

Wafadar confessed to fighting for the Taliban before switching to ISIS, said the statement.
