24 militants killed in Ghazni, Zabul

GHAZNI -- Nineteen Taliban insurgents, including four foreigners, were killed in fighting in Ghazni and Zabul provinces, with another five blown up by their own explosives in Ghazni, Pajhwok Afghan News reported.

Security forces killed 13 Taliban in Gero District, Ghazni Province, security officials said Thursday (June 1). The fighting extended from Wednesday (May 31) into Thursday, Ghazni police told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Troops carrying out an overnight operation in Shah Joy District, Zabul Province, killed six insurgents, including four foreigners, said the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Friday (June 2).

Five militants trying to plant a bomb in Andar District, Ghazni Province, were killed when it exploded prematurely, added the MoD Friday.
