Kabul to gain first transit buses by 2018

KABUL -- The Kabul municipality Thursday (June 15) signed contracts for 16 projects with private construction firms, media reported. The ventures include the first-ever project to bring public transit buses to Kabul.

When complete, the bus system will serve most parts of the city, said Acting Mayor Abdullah Habibzai, according to TOLO News.

Workers will complete the first phase of the transit project by 2018, he said.

Other projects in the package include building 285km of roads, reported the Afghanistan Times.
