HERAT -- A 16-member militant group joined the peace process in Herat and Badghis provinces, Pajhwok Afghan News reported Sunday (July 16), quoting the Herat provincial government.
The group's long involvement in terrorism was a mistake, said one member who requested anonymity.
Another six militants joined the peace process in Qadis District, Badghis Province, said the Badghis government.
The Afghan High Peace Council launched an initiative last week to forge lasting peace.
