KABUL -- Afghan intelligence officials Sunday (August 6) said they seized a truck in Kabul carrying 16.5 tonnes of explosives hidden in boxes marked as poultry feed.
The truck bearing Pakistani license plates was seized in District 9 of the capital, according to an National Directorate of Security statement. Authorities made five arrests.
"It was loaded with explosives to make bombs, suicide vests and conduct terrorist activities in Kabul," the statement continued.
A May 31 truck bombing in the capital's diplomatic quarter killed about 150 people, mostly civilians.
