HERAT -- A Japanese-funded power station using wind and solar energy --Afghanistan's first such power station -- was inaugurated in Herat Sunday (September 17), reported Afghanistan Times.
Energy and Water Minister Ali Ahmad Osmani inaugurated the plant, which is expected to generate 2 megawatts of power, said his ministry.
The project cost 240 million AFN ($3.5 million) and was completed in a year, he said.
