PAKTIKA -- At least 65 Taliban militants have been killed in two separate air strikes Saturday (January 20) in Paktika Province, TOLOnews reported Tuesday (January 23).

"Foreign forces conducted an air strike in Barmal District where 13 Taliban members and a commander, Turabi, were killed," said Mohammad Azim Hashimi, the provincial police chief.

Another air strike by foreign forces in Nika District killed 50 Taliban militants, he said. The 65th dead militant was not included in Hashimi's count.

The Taliban denied the claims.
