TASHKENT -- Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, speaking at an international conference in Tashkent, urged regional countries to work together against terrorism.
The two-day conference in Uzbekistan's capital began Monday (March 26) with the aim of reaching a consensus on resolving the conflict in Afghanistan. Representatives of more than 20 nations and organisations are in attendance.
In his opening speech Tuesday (March 27), Ghani called for stronger ties among regional countries to fight the common threat of terrorism, TOLOnews reported.
Ghani also urged the region's countries to back the Afghan-led peace process.
Afghanistan will do all that is possible to achieve peace, he said, adding that a peace plan unveiled during the second Kabul Process conference February 28 delivered a clear message that Afghanistan wants to end the conflict.
