NANGARHAR -- A Taliban militant turned on his leader in Nangarhar Province, killing him over an apparent internal dispute, the provincial media office said in a statement Tuesday (May 29).
The leader, identified as Malik Jaipur, was killed Monday (May 28) in Sherzad District, said the statement.
Jaipur was known to forcibly collect ushr and zakat from local residents in the district, beating up those who refused to comply, according to the statement.
The Taliban did not immediately comment.
