KABUL -- Afghan police foiled potential bomb plots in two different locations in Kabul Province, Khaama Press reported Tuesday (August 14), citing law enforcement officials.

Security forces discovered an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Deh Mazang area of the capital, near Shahr-e-Naw Park, said officials at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Afghan National Police.

Militants planned to detonate the IED using a remote control, according to officials.

Separately, police defused another IED that was planted near police headquarters in Qarabagh District, Kabul Province, officials said.
