KABUL -- Russia announced Saturday (November 3) it would host a peace conference on Afghanistan Friday (November 9) in Moscow as the Afghan government still debates whether to participate.
"We are still negotiating with the Russian officials," Foreign Ministry spokesman Sebghtullah Ahmadi said.
The Taliban have yet to confirm their participation.
The Moscow meeting was initially scheduled to take place in September, but the Kremlin postponed it after Afghan leaders insisted that the Afghan government should lead the process.
