HERAT -- Infighting between two Taliban factions left at least 28 militants dead in Herat Province, Khaama Press reported Friday (November 30), citing a local official.

The clash broke out between militants loyal to Taliban leader Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada and fighters led by rival Mullah Muhammad Rasool in Shindand District, said Jilani Farhad, spokesman for the Herat provincial governor.

At least 17 militants under the command of Haibatullah were among those killed, said Farhad. Seventeen others were injured from both sides.
