Independent Election Commission wraps up recount in Kabul

Salaam Times

KABUL -- The Independent Election Commission (IEC) Monday (December 17) said that it has finished a recount in Kabul for October's parliamentary elections, TOLOnews reported Monday (December 17).

The recount began after the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) December 6 invalidated all votes cast in Kabul because of various legal issues.

"Recounting of votes for Kabul was completed yesterday," said IEC chief Abdul Badi Sayyad.

"Results for large provinces such as Nangarhar will possibly be announced in the next few days. But some other provinces such as Kabul... I think will have delays in the announcement," said IEC commissioner Maliha Hassan.
