Taliban ambush Dostum's guards, kill ALP commander, 3 girls

JAWZJAN, Afghanistan -- Afghan First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum's bodyguards fought off a Taliban ambush in Jawzjan Province, Khaama Press reported September 20. Meanwhile, terrorists recently killed an Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander and three girls in Helmand Province, according to Pajhwok Afghan News.

Dostum's bodyguards recently fought off an ambush in Khwajah Dokoh District, Jawzjan police chief Gen. Khwajah Rahmatullah Turkistani said, according to a September 20 Khaama Press report.

No casualties on either side were reported, he said.

Meanwhile, the Taliban September 19 killed an ALP commander and three girls in two parts of Helmand Province, provincial governor's spokesman Omar Zwak said, according to a September 20 Pajhwok Afghan News report.

The Taliban launched rockets at ALP commander Sultan Mohammad's car in Nawa District, killing him and wounding three other police officers, Zwak said.

A Taliban mortar shell in Gereshk District killed three girls, Zwak added.
