Afghan forces kill dozens of Taliban, ISIL militants

KABUL -- Afghan troops recently killed dozens of Taliban and "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) members nationwide in Afghanistan.

Troops operating in 17 provinces killed 66 militants in a 24-hour span, the Defence Ministry said October 28, according to Khaama Press. Six soldiers were killed.

Other stories that might duplicate parts of that body count reported 21 dead Taliban and ISIL members in Nangarhar Province, 52 dead Taliban in Helmand Province and four dead Taliban in Laghman Province.

Thirty-three ISIL members were killed in Nangarhar Province October 26, Pajhwok Afghan News reported October 27.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Balkh Province recently rescued a hostage, Khaama Press reported October 27.

The NDS did not provide details of how it broke up the kidnapping.
