Afghan forces kill 31 militants

KABUL -- Afghan forces killed at least 31 militants in a 24-hour span nationwide, media reported.

Troops killed 30 militants recently in Shindand District, Herat Province, provincial governor's spokesman Jilani Farhad told Pajhwok Afghan News Wednesday (December 7). They also killed at least 26 Taliban in 14 provinces, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said, according to another report that day in the Afghanistan Times. Some of those 26 might have been among the 30 militants killed in Herat.

Meanwhile, security forces recently killed a foreign recruiter for the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) in Khogyani District, Nangarhar Province, local security officials said, according to a report Thursday (December 8) by Khaama Press.
