Afghanistan announces plans to strengthen air force

KABUL -- The Afghan government plans to spend $6 billion (410 billion AFN) in the next four years to build up its air force, the Afghanistan Times reported Monday (September 4), quoting President Ashraf Ghani.

Ghani made the announcement in Laghman Province Sunday (September 3), during a speech to troops and officials at the 201st Silab Military Corps base.

NATO's Resolute Support Mission is committed to increase spending on strengthening Afghan forces, he added.
